About
+ what is a cold pressed juice?
The juices extracted from fresh-raw vegetables and fruits are the means by which we can furnish all the cells and tissues of the body with the elements and nutritional enzymes they need in the manner they can be most readily digested and assimilated.” Dr. Norman Walker
Cold pressed describes a method of juice extraction. Fruits and vegetables are pulverized into a pulp using a slow press process. The live juice is then extracted and preserving maximum amounts of vitamins, enzymes, minerals and trace minerals. The flavour and quality of the juice is unequaled by any other juice extraction, it is cleaner healthier and crisper.
In contrast to cold pressed method the traditional centrifugal juicer extraction method involves a high speed cutting blade and strainer that heats the produce and causes oxidation, destroying vital nutrients, and leaving much of the liquid in the pulp. the juice needs to be consumed as soon as you make it with a centrifugal juicer because of the oxidation that occurs. The juice is not as nutrient rich. Because air is not forced into the juice during extraction, cold press juice will keep for up to three days, with refrigeration.
+ is the juice “Raw”?
Evolve juice is unpasteurised and cold pressed. It is not heat or pessure treated. Our juice is raw and has a shelf life of 4-5 days depending on the type of juice. Some cold pressed juices on the market are HPP treated which gives them an extra shelf life of up to 45 days. At Press'd we make our juice fresh on site so you can be sure you are getting the freshest organic juice possible.
+ Is it organic?
Yes. We are passionate about promoting wholesome organic nutrient rich foods, free from pesticides, herbicides, insecticidees and fingacides. Our bodies work best without chemicals. We strongly believe in the importance of fully informing customers of the source and quality of the foods we provide.
We source our fruit and vegetable direct from local organic farmers wherever possible, and use small local suppliers. Sometimes due to seasonal variance and some limitation in securing supply there are some fruits or vegetables that may not be available as organic at certain periods. We have a few different organic supliers and will ensure we are unable to sourse from these first before getting non organic
We are committed where ever possible to support small sustainable farming and suppliers with sound environmental practices.
If you would like confirmation of what products are organic and non organic at any point in time please contact us.
+ Why does the same juice appear to vary?
Our juices are unpasteurised and hand made, so at timessettling, tasteand colour variations may occur. Many fruit and vegetables vary in color and sweetness, depending on the type and season, and have varying amounts of antioxidants and enzymes which, in turn, can cause differences in colour and flavour. Because we use the freshest organic ingredients available, the juice can vary in colour and taste each time you purchase it.
Press’d juices are not pasteurised and have no additives, and only additives can prevent the natural settling process. Just shake your healthy juice before drinking.
+ I have a specific health condition or am pregnant can I have a juice?
Always check with your health care provider before changing your diet suddenly. If you are pregnant organic cold pressed juices are a great suppliment to your current diet but should not be the sole source of nutrition. If you have any questions or concerns please speak to your health care provider first. If you have any specific allergies or conditions please let us know at time of ordering.
+ Can I drink juices if I have a gluten or lactose allergy?
Yes. There are no animal, dairy or gluten products in our juices. If you have any other allergies or conditions please first check with your health care provider and let us know at time of ordering.
Delivery
+ Why do you recommend collection or delivery everyday?
Heat and pasturisation destroys enzymes and vital nutrients. The juice is not as nutrient rich. We don’t use heat or high pressure process to preserve our organic cold pressed juice. Some other cold pressed juices on the market use HPP (high pressure process) and their juices as a result have a longer shelf life.
Just like the fruit and vegetables in your fridge - the nutritional content of your juice is highest the sooner you consume it after it farmed. We recommend you collect your juices everyday from us onsite so you can be sure you are getting the freshest and more nutrient rich food.
At Press'd we make our juice fresh everyday on site so you can be sure you are getting the freshest organic juice possible. We are happy to tweak each juice so it is just the way you like it - just let us know prior to collection your likes/dislikes.
During the Cleanse
+ Can I drink other drinks (alcohol or soft drink) during a cleanse?
That’s a solid ‘No’. We don’t recommend it during a cleanse - give your body the break it deserves. Try to drink water with lemon, coconut water or herbal or green tea instead.
If you hungry and feel you need more food have some almond milk – its fantastic for you.
+ How long can my juices last?
You should consume your juice within 2 days after you receive it. It's super fresh, completely raw and never heated or high pressure treated.
.
+ What order am I supposed to drink my juices in?
Refer to the cleanse instruction leaflet for the best order to drink your juices in.
+ Does it really matter what order I drink the juices?
Yes the order in which you consume your juices directly effects how you absorb, and digest nutrients. When your stomach is empty first thing in the morning, it’s able to digest whatever you put in it much more than if you consumed something prior. That is why we recommend a lemon juice cleanse shot first thing in the morning followed by a highly nutritious green juice first. That said, don't worry if you do have to switch it up a bit, just aim to have the morning juices first..
+ How should I store and drink my juice?
Store your juice in the fridge. Drink the juice slowly to increase nutrient absorption.
+ I have a function that I cant be drinking a juice at, if I eat, will it mess up the cleanse?
No. Try to stick to plant based and where possible raw foods rather than go all out. We recommend you schedule your cleanse to try avoid tempting social events.
+ Is it fine to exercise while cleansing?
Definitely. It is a myth that if you don’t eat a lot, you will lack energy. You will be amazed to see that the more you allow your digestion to rest, the more your energy gets a lift. The energy that is usually spent on digestion is now yours for the taking, so grab it and go for a lap around the block! Remember- you are feeding your cells nourishing plant based goodness!
+ What are detox symptoms? Will I get them?
During a cleanse, the body is essentially tearing out all of the "bad stuff" and rebuilding with new material. To make room for that new material, the "bad stuff" needs to leave; how it makes its exit may cause detox symptoms. For example: when the body eliminates coffee, symptoms usually include headaches, nervousness, and shakiness. When protein, meats, and fats are eliminated, you may experience skin blemishes, body odor, etc.
+ Can I do a juice cleanse and eat food too?
The benefits of a cleanse will be reduced if you eat solid food in addition to the juices.
The idea of a cleanse is to only consume the juice so that your digestive system has time to rest. However, if you want to supplement your cleanse with food stick to a plant based diet - plant based food is great for digestion and packed with vitamins and minerals. If you have any questions on diet and nutrition please contact us or pop into our store. We have a number of resources available to help you understand the benefits of plant based foods and associated nutrition.
+ What do I eat when I have finished with my cleanse?
Two points here. The first one regards prep work.
Before any cleanse, you should lighten up – gradually. If you eat everything, e.g. meat, cheese, processed sugars, alcohol, etc, you should slowly eliminate those a few days before and incorporate lighter food. Include fruits and vegetables, fish instead of meat and raw/steamed food instead offried. Try to eliminate all alcohol a few days before and focus on hydrating. The same rule also applies to the post-cleanse menu. Stay away from dense, processed foods. Go for plant based, unprocessed foods and you cant go wrong.
Deciding Which Cleanse
+ So what cleanse should I do? What do you recommend?
Does a kale juice sound horrific to you?
Do you like/tolerate green juice and the idea of cucumber and kale juice does not frighten you - try the Thrive.
+ Will a one-day cleanse do anything?
YES! How would you react if you never had a day off? The benefits of a one-day cleanse, once a week are astronomical! This cleanse method has been an Eastern practice for centuries, used as a quick strategy to strengthen the immune system, sharpen mental clarity, and allow the body to "catch up." Like yourself, your body needs a rest. After only one day of stopping solid food intake, enzymes stop visiting your stomach and instead travel into the bloodstream and intestines, where they get busy attacking all sorts of old waste matter, damaged cells, and pollutants.
+ How often should I do a cleanse?
A good rule of thumb is whenever you are feeling slugish, fatigue, general lack of energy, sleeplessness, anxiety/depression, digestive problems, before and after holidays or any events that lead to overindulging. Or make it a healthy regular treat for your body.
